I have the great honor of being one of four speakers at the Wine Road‘s “Why Social Media” event tomorrow morning.  The Wine Road is an association which covers all Northern Sonoma County’s appellations, including Dry Creek, Russian River, Alexander Valley, Chalk Hill and the Sonoma Coast, so attendees will only be those who are winery/vineyard employees in one of these appellations.  Thankfully these are my favorite wine regions, so I will have lots to talk about.

Good friend, Hardy Wallace (Lifestyle Corespondent for Murphy Goode) will be the main presenter, discussing different social media sites and guidelines/tricks for each.  Keri Hansen, my co-presenter for the Sonoma County Tourism Bureau will be teaching people how the Tourism  Bureau uses Social Media.  Matthew Ashcroft, a local Internet Professional will be  helping attendees to get started.  And I will be coming in to talk about how social media marketing starts off with a strategy, giving examples of case studies from brands I have worked with.

    I think every winery in California that can should become a Wi-Fi hot spot. Give your audience an extra benefit or edge that comes with FREE Wi-Fi connectivity. People need to be able to multitask moreso today than ever before.

    If you happen to have a conference facility, by all means equip it with a large HDTV screen and a 16-foot VGA cable to easily convert the area into a makeshift conference facility – complete with video conferencing via Skype.

    The Wi-Fi signal should most definitely encompass your wine-tasting room. And, if it does, you should have some Wi-Fi digital photo frames promoting all your wine-tasting room has to offer.
